A new mod replaces the internal upscaler from GTA 5 with AMD's Fidelity FX Super Resolution. As a result, AMD's new technology can apparently be used in the game without problems. At the start, broad support was promised for AMD's Fidelity FX Super Resolution upscaling technology. According to the current status, 44 studios and engine developers want to use the technology and implementation has already been announced for 19 games. Especially for older titles, Fidelity FX Super Resolution should no longer appear - unless you help with mods. GTA 5 with Fidelity FX Super Resolution A similar mod that brings AMD's upscaling technology into a game that is actually not supported has now been released for GTA 5. According to the installation instructions on Github, all you have to do is copy two files into the main directory of the game. This replaces GTA 5's internal upscaler with a DLL file that contains AMD's Fidelity FX Super Resolution. It is not known from which game the file was taken. Therefore: Use it at your own risk! After installation, the quality setting of the upscaler can be adjusted as usual in the graphics menu of GTA 5, so the mod seems to fit neatly into the game. This is also shown in a comparison video in which the effect of Fidelity FX Super Resolution is shown. In the comparison shots shown, it should be noted that with a naive implementation, some parameters could possibly be adjusted in order to better match the scaling to the game graphics. But even with the unadjusted DLL, the upscaling delivers a clearly visible improvement: Many textures appear sharper compared to the low original resolution. With a view to the future, it remains to be seen to what extent further games will receive a corresponding mod by the community. After Fidelity FX Super Resolution was released just over a week ago, the implementation effort in GTA 5 doesn't seem to have been too great. However, other games may be more difficult to implement.
