The new record for the highest all time concurrent player peak is 151,253 people online in the game. Furthermore, the next day it also continued to be pretty active with having a peak of 147,000 players. But, the main question is why is such an old game suddenly having such a spike in players? We believe that the reason for this is the newest update that the game got.

So, what special thing does this new update bring? Well, to explain it in brief, all this new update does is that it fixes one major issue that has been plaguing the servers for quite some time now. It is the issue of the lag bots. For those of you who are unaware, these lag bots would join a server, ruin the player’s experience by getting easy kills thanks to aim cheats, spam the chats with offensive words, and also crash the server when players attempted to kick them. Now, with this new update, that issue has been fixed.

Naturally, when such a major issue gets fixed, many that stopped playing the game for that reason would be getting back to the game again. Furthermore, this new update has also introduced a new case, which naturally brought a load of new cosmetics. There are 18 new items and six new effects.

It is really good to see that despite being so old now, Team Fortress 2 still continues to be a very active game, and that Valve is also monitoring it and fixing the things that need to be fixed. Here is to hoping that Team Fortress 2 still continues to be active for many more years to many.
